Stresa<\/b> is a famous lakeside town in <\/span>Piedmont<\/b>, precisely in the district of <\/span>Verbano-Cusio-Ossola<\/b>. This town, which counts almost<\/span> 5,000 <\/b>residents, is located on the Western Coast of the<\/span> Borromean Gulf<\/b>. This territory is by<\/span> Lake Major<\/b>, and allows for a great view of the <\/span>Alps<\/b>, in a scenario offering breathtaking landscapes.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Stresa is named after the morphological features of the area where it extends. Its name originates from the Teutonic term <\/span>\u201cStrich,\u201d<\/b> which indicates an extended strip of land.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Walking along the lakefront, tourists can admire wonderful historical buildings and luxury hotels. A nineteenth-century mansion, Villa Pallavicino is undoubtedly a place of interest, located just a few kilometers far from the Borromean Islands.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Designed by statist <\/span>Ruggero Borghi<\/b>, the Villa, which develops on three levels,\u00a0 features a large <\/span>English-style Garden<\/b>. Since <\/span>1954<\/b>, <\/span>Pallavicino marquises<\/b> decided to turn this immense garden into a wildlife museum, which is still today accessible to visitors.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The <\/span>Zoo Park <\/b>extends over an area of about 20 hectares, which welcomes a famous botanical garden, various secular trees, and over forty species of animals between mammals and volatiles. Villa Pallavicino’s flora and fauna make of the Zoo Park a special one, loved by young and old.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n In the<\/span> Old Town<\/b> of Stresa, one can admire the <\/span>neoclassical-style Church of Sant\u2019 Ambrogio<\/b>, where some seventeenth-century artworks are present. On the right of the Church, one finds the famous <\/span>Villa Ducale<\/b>, build towards the end of the 18th century following that same neoclassical style. Still in the Old Town, one can visit the <\/span>Palace of Congress<\/b>, which hosts \u201cLe Settimane Musicali di Stresa- <\/span>Stresa\u2019s Music Weeks.\u201d<\/b><\/p>\n Within the territory of Stresa, one can find three of the four <\/span>Borromean Islands<\/b>,\u00a0 worth discovering because of both their amazing landscape and architecture.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Among such beauties, one finds <\/span>Palazzo Borromeo<\/b>, the residence of the Borromeo family on the <\/span>Isola Bella<\/b>. It consists of a well-preserved noble palace, where one can admire a large number of historical artifacts, as the collection of the family paintings, with works by <\/span>Raffaello<\/b>, <\/span>Correggio<\/b> e <\/span>Tiziano<\/b>. Inside of Palazzo Borromeo, one finds the breathtaking\u00a0 Baroque-style<\/span> Borromean Gardens<\/b>, where several varieties of flowers and trees are present.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The biggest of the Borromean Islands is the<\/span> Isola Madre<\/b>, where you can visit a marvelous historical palace and a botanical garden.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The <\/span>Settimane Musicali di Stresa<\/b> is a cultural event born in 1961 as an initiative of a Venetian nobleman, Italo Trentinaglia, who wanted to launch an annual event making of Stresa the seat of an international classical music festival. Since its first launch, artists from all over the globe perform in Stresa.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n After its first launch at Palazzo dei Congressi, the event has expanded to other historical venues, allowing Stresa to showcase its breathtaking architecture while hosting classical music concerts.\u00a0 Since 1999, the Festival has turned into \u201c<\/span>Settimane Musicali di Stresa e del Lago Maggiore<\/b> – <\/span>Stresa and Lake Major\u2019s Music Weeks<\/b>.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Stresa also hosts different literary events, among which the \u201c<\/span>Premio di Stresa di Narrativa- Stresa\u2019s Literary Award for Best Fiction<\/b>,\u201d for works written in Italian, and published in Italy and Italian Switzerland.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Stresa is also famous for its mountain region, which includes <\/span>Mottarone<\/b>, a beautiful and renowned ski resort located 1,491 meters above the sea level. One can reach Mottarone via a cable car, which is split into two sections.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Besides the presence of a ski center, where one can practice winter sports, one can enjoy the view of Lake Major, <\/span>Alpinia Botanical Garden<\/b>, and the heights of <\/span>Mount Rosa<\/b>, directly from Mottarone.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Youngsters and families love Mottarone.
